Yoga Sutra 3.53



Jāti-lakṣaṇa-deśaiḥ-anyatā-anavacchedāt-tulyayoḥ-tataḥ-pratipattiḥ


Consequently, things that seem identical because of their similarities in characteristics places and position, can be differentiated


Here, Patanjali continues the idea in the previous sutra that the advanced yoga practitioner can notice the minute changes from one instant in time to the next.  Often, we are not capable of seeing minute differences/variations in things.  For example, the difference between ‘fools gold’ and real gold.   However, the advanced yoga practitioner is completely attuned to whatever can be perceived and makes no mistakes.
