Yoga Sutra 2.55

A little look at the second Yoga Sutra

tataḥ paramā vaśyatā-indriyāṇām

Then comes the highest mastery of the senses

In the preceding Sutra, Patanjali advises that through the practice of conscious breathing (prāṇāyāma) your sensory organs cease to be overloaded with various stimuli and they are pulled back into your mind (pratyahara) and you are no longer distracted. Here, Patanjali tells you the result of the practice.

It logically follows that once you have mastered your senses, that you are in now in total control. The ‘Seer’ is restored to its true place and function.
