Yoga Sutra 2.46

A little look at the second Yoga Sutra

sthira-sukham-āsanam

The posture is firm and comfortable.

Patañjali talks here about āsana (posture), what is often all Yoga is (erroneously) perceived to be. In truth, āsana, is only achieved when two qualities are combined and fully existing:

  • sthira indicates self-awareness, mental firmness, in the here and now, stillness of body.

  • sukham when you radiate wellness with a smooth/relaxed pace of breath.
