Yoga sutra 2.02
samādhi-bhāvana-arthaḥ kleśa-tanū-karaṇa-arthaḥ ca
Its purpose is cultivating integration, effecting an attenuation of the afflictions
Here Patanjali defines the yoga of action. This preliminary path allows you to move towards clarity of the goal ahead (to actualize samādhi) whilst gradually releasing afflictions that trouble you. The key is to practice hard.
Kriya and Pranayama to cleanse and balance your body, Asana to stretch and strengthen your muscles, joints and organs, Meditation to calm your mind and the study yoga texts to improve your knowledge and apply the principles of Yama and Niyama in your daily life.
