Yoga Sutra 1.43

A little look at the first Yoga Sutra …

Yoga sutra 1.43

Smr̥ti-pariśuddhau svarūpa-śūnyeva-arthamātra-nirbhāsā nirvitarkā

When memory is thoroughly purified as if empty, and the only light is complete union with gross objects

Patanjali takes us to another level of integration or ‘complete union’ in this sutra. We are still in the realm of the material world/gross objects, but the mind is purified, and your mediation experience deepens.

Memory is the force behind the functioning of your mind. When your mind is empty, that is devoid of memory, it appears as if it has lost its own form and sheds lights on the meaning of the object only. There is no fear, no ego, no desire, because it is as if the mind has been emptied of its own identity.
