Yoga sutra 1.39
yathā-abhimata-dhyānād-vā
A peaceful sate of mind can also be attained by meditating on what we appreciate.
Patanjali puts meditation at the end of the options for attaining a peaceful state of mind to emphasise that all the options in this section of the sutras are effectively different ways of meditating.
By meditating on something agreeable to you, whether it be an image of Lord Ganesha or Jesus Christ or the like, this practice allows you to tailor your meditation to you. This brings a special quality to your practice.
