Yoga sutra 1.29
Tataḥ pratyak-chetana-adhigamo-‘py-antarāya-abhāvaś-cha
By the systematic repetition of AUM (ॐ) the obstacles are diminished, and Pure Consciousness is revealed
If you practice the systematic repetition of AUM (ॐ), this chant has a two-fold affect; firstly, the elimination of barriers towards self-discovery and, by such devotion (and secondly), the gradual revelation of Pure Consciousness. Once the mind gets a glimpse of the inner bliss that is Pure Consciousness, it develops a taste for turning inward. Therefore, if you are determined in your daily practice of yoga your senses will turn inwards as a result and any obstacles can be diminished leading to final self-realisation.
